India vs New Zealand 5th ODI ,Visakhapatnam
New Zealand level series 2-2 after a fantastic bowling performance at JSCA Stadium,Ranchi. It has been a tough series for both the teams in which both have collapsed on numerous occasions but now there is no more room for any other mistake from either of them as it is the decider of 5 match ODI series which is to be held at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium Pothanamallayapalam, Visakhapatnam.
Pitch & conditions
Historically Visakhapatnam has been a high scoring venue with short boundaries all around but the main concern is about the pitch which has been under controversies since Ranji match between Assam and Rajasthan with 17 wickets falling at day 3 but pitch has been cleared by BCCI to conduct 5th ODI so hopefully we should have another thriller of a contest.Weather predicts 24% chances of precipitation and bit cloudy hopefully weather will not be a concern.
5 matches have been played at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium Pothanamallayapalam, Visakhapatnam in which first inning score has been (most recent first) : 288-269-289-259-356 which is an average of 292.
With unknown pitch conditions at Visakhapatnam both the captain’s would like to win the toss and look to chase the total as the previous 5 matches which were played at Visakhapatnam 4 have been won by side chasing and the only score which was defended successfully was 356 , in that too chasing team managed to get 298 so it is clear bat second or score 300+ if you bat first.
India have played 5 matches at Visakhapatnam
Won : 4
Lost : 1

Watch out for
MS Dhoni undoubtedly the form Virat Kohli is in if he fire’s then no one can stop India but if he doesn’t perform it is MSD who has to step up at and take India to a series win. MSD has great memories at Visakhapatnam got his first ODI hundred here against Pakistan scoring 148 of 123 in 2005, recently in IPL he scored 23 runs in last over to take his team to victory. It is a lucky ground for MSD and he surely wouldn’t want to miss out on this occasion with series on stake.
Tom Latham it has been a career best series for Tom Latham he has never been so consistent. He has scored 5 fifties in 10 innings on this tour (including tests). His performance in ODI’s has been 39-61-46-79* . He has scored 225 runs at an average of 75 and strike rate of 87.79 and has been top scorer for New Zealand in the ODI series, before the start of series his place in team was a big question but he has shown what he has got. It is his last opportunity to score big in this series and cement his place in team and most importantly take his team to a first bilateral series victory against India in India
India would like to bring in Jasprit Bumrah if he is fully fit in place of Dhawal Kulkarni who din’t had a good outing at Ranchi. Rohit Sharma’s form has been big a concern in this series Dhoni has an option of replacing him for Mandeep Singh but I don’t think that he would do so. Rohit Sharma is a big match player and can find his rhythm back anytime.
Probable XI : 1 Rohit Sharma, 2 Ajinkya Rahane, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 Manish Pandey, 5 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 6 Kedar Jadhaw, 7 Hardik Pandya, 8 Axar Patel, 9 Amit Mishra, 10 Jasprit Bumrah/ Dhawal Kulkarni, 11 Umesh Yadav
New Zealand have keep on rotating their squad with the horses for courses policy it would be interesting to see what change will Williamson make this time from the winning combination of previous game. With team looking good in previous game only possible change can be bringing in Henry for Sodhi if the pitch does not have much for spinners.
Probable XI : 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Tom Latham, 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Ross Taylor , 5 Ben Watling , 6 Jimmy Neesham , 7 Anton Devcich , 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Tim Southee, 10 Trent Boult , 11 Matt Henry/Ish Sodhi
